This Chinese character 福 (prosperity, luck and good fortune) is normally put up inverted at homes during Chinese New Year. A play of words, 福倒（到）了Fu Dao Le. The word Dao can means "inverted" or "arrived"; hence carrying the meaning prosperity, luck and good fortune have come knocking on your doors.
